Lindsay Summers
Lindsay is the Centre Director of our Langley location. She graduated from the University of Victoria in 2000 with a degree in History and Geography. In 2002, she enrolled in UBC’s Teachers’ Education program specializing in Secondary Education. After teaching Social Studies and Geography in the Surrey School District, she decided to leave the public school system to pursue a career with Sylvan.

“What I love about my job is that I have the ability to fine-tune instruction to meet each child’s needs," says Lindsay. " It is very rewarding to see measurable progress with our students and know that what we do at Sylvan builds skills and confidence. I also enjoy having the opportunity to work with families and local schools to help students reach their full potential.”

Deby Basra
Deby describes herself as a "people person" and Sylvan is a perfect environment for this naturally gregarious individual. "Teaching is the only profession for me," says Deby, "I love working with kids and I feel I can really impact someone’s life in a positive way."

After graduating from the University of Alberta with her B.Ed, Deby was immediately attracted to Sylvan. "I always felt that there were too many kids falling through the cracks," says Deby. "Two key things attracted me to Sylvan. First of all, we have the time to devote to each child’s individual needs and secondly, I love the amount of teaching resources available."

Deby began working at Sylvan at the beginning of 2002. She is adept at working with students of all ages and grades and she has a strong background in language arts. She enjoys parent conferences and working with people to help their children be strong confident learners.

After taking a short hiatus, Deby has returned to the Langley Sylvan Centre as of June, 2012.
